Trip Planner

Thank you for your interest in the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park, also known as the “Las Vegas Zoo”.  We welcome your visit and want to help you make the most of your trip.  The following information will address logistics for planning a field trip.

All ages enjoy the Zoo! Dara with Maniac Girl

How to book a visit Please call the zoo office at 647-4685 between 9 AM and 4:30 PM to book a self-guided tour. The number of visiting groups on any given day is restricted to avoid overcrowding.  If your group is unable to visit on the scheduled day, please call the zoo as soon as possible to allow another group to be scheduled at that time.  Attention Teachers: You know your class and what you want to study at the Zoo. Once you have booked your group’s visit, please use the FREE Previsit Ticket (one per class), so that you can plan your day.  We are looking forward to seeing you and your students at the Zoo.
Group Rates Our group rates are $4.00 per person with a minimum of 15 people (children under 2 are free).  For groups of less than 15, a flat fee of $60 or the regular admission rates (whichever is less) will be charged.
Payment In order to expedite your group entry into the Zoo, please pay admission fees in one lump sum at the cashier window on the day of the visit.  Payment may be by cash, check, Visa, Master Card, Discover, or American Express.  Checks should be made payable to “THE NEVADA ZOOLOGICAL FOUNDATION”.  An accurate count when making payment is essential as there will be no refunds for errors in counting.  No refunds will be issued after payment is made.
Lunch

Groups may bring in lunches but storage facilities are NOT available.  Glass containers, straws, plastic lids, umbrellas, and balloons are not allowed.  Picnic tables are available on a first come, first served basis. Please encourage students to dispose of all trash in the proper receptacles. The onsite Snack Bar sells cold drinks, ice cream, and candy bars.

(Reminder:  Please do not feed the Zoo animals.  They are fed special diets to maintain their good health.)

Supervision

The Zoo welcomes responsible teachers, group leaders, and chaperones. For everyone’s safety and the well-being of the animals, please accompany your group of children in all areas of the zoo to ensure that they do not upset the animals by shouting, chasing them, or tapping on the glass.

Also, please stress to your group to keep fingers out of all exhibits. Supervision is particularly requested in the restroom and gift shop area. Name tags are encouraged but please do not attach them with pins.  Adhesive name tags are preferable.

Prior to your field trip, please provide each chaperone, group leader, and teacher with a copy of the Chaperone Guide. This guide provides specific pointers that will enhance everyone’s visit to the Zoo.
